AC motor winding continuity test: Use a AC motor tester to check the continuity of the motor winding from each phase. If any phase fails the continuity test, you could have a burned-out motor. Note that identifying windings will vary depending on where you are.
"Inspect the Motor Windings With a AC motor tester
First and foremost, you're going to need a AC motor tester to test the windings. To begin, set the AC motor tester to read ohms and then test the motor's wires and terminal.
You should test the windings for a “short to ground” in the circuit and open or shorts in the windings."
This tester is capable of providing diagnostic information for all kinds of motors. Electrical measurements. If the motor is completely unresponsive, no ac humming or false starts, take a voltage reading at the motor terminals. If there is no voltage or reduced voltage, work back upstream.
Firstly, disconnect the power supply to the motor. Secondly, using your AC motor tester to measure the resistance between the two leads of the motor. Thirdly, if the resistance is within the range specified in the manual, then the motor is fine.
Inside a single-phase motor, there are two windings: the main winding and the auxiliary winding. Connect the main winding to the power supply and the auxiliary winding to the power supply via the capacitor. Current from the power supply flows directly to the main winding.
